Two-and-a-half-years wait for this? It still can't do DHTML for crap. Simple mouseovers didn't even want to work until I reloaded my browser a few times.
Still need to test CSS support. First impression: Augh. I've been assimilated into the 86 percent who use MSIE.

A few years ago, I used to swear by Netscape, and absolutely loathe MSIE.
Then I began to code real webpages. Guess what happened? Yep. I only keep Netscape on my machine to check for cross browser compatibility. Hate it.

Yeah, once upon a time I ALWAYS used Netscape--was it around before IE? I'm young; I get fuzzy on these things. I'm sure I was using it when I first learned basic HTML when I was a sprout, and I was quite resistant to using IE, but now, like others of you, I only use Netscape to check for compatability.

I have used Netscape for five years, and I still use it to this day. I like its ease of use.
I have the current pre-release of NS 6. The first two did much better with CSS and DHTML, IMHO. Not only that, they worked much faster, too. I think we should wait until the finished product is released (whenever that is...it can't be that much longer), then make a final judgement. I still have some hope that IE users will like it.

the new netscape is out officially as of yesterday (i think). and (for cabell), netscape was one of the first (if not THE first) commercially available internet browsers. IE has only been around for the last couple of years. and i, like jen mentioned, used to like netscape better. that is, until i started doing some html and css, etc. then i realized how much more is supported in IE and what a piece of crap netscape really is. it pains me to say that, it really does, but the truth is the truth. i hope netscape 6 rocks!

oh my god. netscape 6 sucks so much ass. it is really unbelievable. it cannot align anything properly. i went to check up on my notify list at listbot; all of the editable text boxes were out of wack.
i went surfing through a few journals; images on top of text; text jumbled together... it was a mess....
and all of this looks fine on IE, and even netscape 4.7...
this is really disgusting....
oh - wait! and i didn't even get into the css support; cuz it doesn't exist!!!!! that damn underline hover thing for links that EVERYONE does? not supported.... doh!

I haven't updated from the beta I downloaded last week - that thing has the memory leak to end all memory leaks - three open / close cycles and my 256MB ram seemed more like 4.
Not to mention that it can't even render TWA or diarist.netActive correctly (the top paragraph is the "default" font rather than the font defined...), and... well, just, grrrr.
Grrr.
GrrrRRrrr.

That CSS hover property is proprietary to Internut Exploder. It's not a part of the CSS standard (I believe). M$ likes to create their own standards. The Netscape (BLINK) tag is another. The BLINK tag was actually a joke amongst the Mozilla programmers - the general public wasn't supposed to become aware of it.
Don't use hover. It's a pain in the ass.

i am stil a netscape user, but prefer 4.7 versions (i believe my vurrent is 4.74). i tried 6 and it would have been great if it was backward compatible, but even then i am not so sure i would use it
i.e. for me is a heavy slow loading browser and annoys me to death. lol but i check my designs in i.e., netscape (both versions), opera and mozilla. the last two are only if i really feel like it..lol
