Features include columns and interviews, links, community news, a forum, weekly poll, as well as tutorials and "OLJ Today," a trial section featuring daily writing prompts, quotes, and links.

The online diary phenomenon is going under the academic microscope down under.

Tamara Rickersey, a student at the University of Wollongong in Australia, is conducting research on online journals for her senior Honors project. She is conducting a survey of people who currently keep or who in the past have kept online journals.

"I am trying to gather responses from as wide a variety of journalers as possible," she writes. "Filling in this survey will take no more than 10 minutes of your time, and will be greatly appreciated."

The 41-question survey covers comparing paper and web journals, anonymity, censorship, and the journaling community.

Stepping in to again link diarists who see their bodies as another artistic canvas, "Written in Skin" is a 'burb for journalers with tattoos, piercings, and other body art. It was founded by Canadian diarist Terry, 36, who has a purple rose on her left shoulder two memorialize her sister, who passed away in 1995.

The "Cafe'Burb," founded by 26-year-old California journaler Jolene, is for those journalers that have online stores through CafePress. The site allows anyone to sell shirts, mugs, mousepads and more with their logo or pictures on them, and more than a dozen journalers have used it to promote their websites.

Finally, there's "The Iron Journalists," a journaler recipe inspired by the campy Japanese cooking game show "Iron Chef." Founder Meghan Miller, 19, explains, "once a month, there will be an ingredient assigned and you have to post a recipe that's based on (or at least uses) that ingredient." The first picks are strawberries, tomatoes, and feta cheese... not neccessarily in the same dish.
