While volunteer columnists and link checkers contribute much of the content, Diarist.Net is otherwise run entirely out-of-pocket by a wanna-be geek, husband and father eking out a living in the beautiful but bustling city of Honolulu. While it's a small-scale site, there are still recurring costs for web hosting, extra bandwidth, and the like.
